My Wash n' Go Routine đđœ

Hey naturalistas đ Today I'm gonna tell y'all about my wash n' go routine. I try to do this at least once a week, but sometimes my weeks get thrown off or my hair is extra crusty or I go into hermit mode and postpone it for about a week or two.. Buuuut, this is what I do weekly/biweekly to achieve bouncy, shiny, manageable curls. All of the products not cited in this blog can be seen in my first blog "My Holy Grail Products."

Whichever day I start off on to wash my hair (usually either Thursday or Saturday) I evaluate it: Is my hair super dry, is it super greasy, or does it simply need a little extra love? The answers to these questions determine whether or not I cleanse, cowash, or shampoo and whether or not I deep condition. If my whole head is overall crusty, dry, lifeless, matted together, I cowash. This will still get my hair clean without stripping out the moisture it's already lacking. When I feel that I've overused product in my hair for the last week and my hair is damn near suffocating, I cleanse. It takes away all the buildup on my scalp and still leaves my hair super soft and moisturized. Lastly, if my hair is oily/greasy and possibly still crunchy from my gel, I shampoo. I focus on the roots, letting the remainder of the product run down my ends as I wash it out. Not much else to say there, I'm pretty sure every one knows what shampoo is for.
Next, I have to condition. Lately I've been using my OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner because it has a lot of slip and makes my hair super easy to detangle. From time to time, I also like to switch between my Aussie Mega Moist Conditioner (which also has a lot of slip) and my Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner (which smells magical.)Â
If I feel like my hair is already hydrated enough and feels soft and strong, I'll finish washing up in the shower while clipping up my hair and leaving the conditioner in, then, rinse it out with cold (yes, COLD) water. After conditioning, rinsing it out with cold water closes the hair cuticle, locking in all that yummy moisture your hair needs to survive, literally. When my hair is poppin', this is when I get the hell out cuz I'm already tired. If my hair still isn't up to par after conditioning, I will deep condition. For days my hair is brittle and dry, I'll use my homemade conditioner I talked about in my "How To Repair Color Damage Within 24 Hours" entry. Buuuut if my hair is still lacking moisture I'll turn to the holy grail Eden Body Works Jojoba Monoi Natural Deep Conditioner. Depending on how much love my hair needs, I'll either wait 15 minutes with a shower cap on and rinse it out with cold water after, or I'll get out the shower with the deep conditioner still in my hair and a shower cap on to leave it in for a couple of hours.
With my deep conditioner fully rinsed out, it's time to style. I follow the LOC method (Leave-in, Oil, Creme/Gel) and I like to brush all my products through my hair until I get to my gel, so I add my detangler first. This also adds a light hold to my hair that I like. If I don't have some type of hold on my hair, my wash n' go will only last about two days because my curls will be too soft.Â
After brushing through my hair with my Tangle Tamer, I'll add my leave-in. I'm still trying this product out, but, so far so good. It doesn't leave a film on my hair, it is moisturizing, and my husband likes the smell so that's a plus.Â
After brushing through my hair to distribute the product one last time, I add my oil. Y'all know I love my almond oil, I use it for everything. I split my hair down the middle and apply it from mid-shaft down on both sections, adding a little extra to the ends and crown of my head.
At this point it feels like my arms are gonna fall off but that's ok 'cause my hair is gonna be cute so wuteva. After parting my hair where I want it, it's time to add my gel. I use a quarter size amount for each side of my head and I run it through my hair, adding a bit extra to the crown of my head, which is dryer than the rest of my hair. Then, I use a cotton t-shirt to scrunch all the excess water out of my hair. NEVER use a towel, it'll make your fro frizzy and you don't want that. Microfiber towels and t-shirts are the way to go, sis. (I prefer the microfiber towel since you can tie it on top of your head.) When all the extra water is out I snatch up some more gel and scrunch it on my ends.
All the styling steps are complete so this is usually when I go chase my daughter around, clean up, or make my husband something to eat. These things usually take me thirty minutes or more (the longer the better) and if I have somewhere to be or I just wanna be able to lay down and take a nap, I diffuse my hair. This sentence is simply an excuse to link the BLOW DRYER my husband got me for Christmas that comes with different attachments, because I really, really love it.Â
I flip all my hair over and diffuse at the root to create volume. Sitting on the floor or toilet is optional, I'm just super pregnant, so standing for a full twenty-five minutes isn't an option. So yes, I diffuse until my hair is about 80% dry because I only want a certain amount of volume.Â
And last but not least, I use my handy-dandy hair pick to lift my roots a bit. I don't do it too much considering that as the week goes on my hair will get much bigger. Sometimes I'll add extra gel or oil to dry or frizzy parts of my hair and I'm done! Finally.Â

I hope this entry answered any questions y'all had about my wash n' go routine! If you have any suggestions about any other entries I should do, go to the contact page to reach me. For instance, if you want to know how I went from the hair color at the top, to the one at the bottom, let me know (:Â
Thank you guys so much for all the love and support! I didn't expect anything like this at all. Don't forget to tune in every Tuesday and follow me on Instagram and Snapchat for updates @PeachyMulatto.Â
